I purchased my a pair of dachshunds three years ago and named them Jack and Jill . Jill who is the queen of the house is only 17 pounds and Jack comes in at 19 pounds. Someone elses bad luck was my luck as the last owners passed away three years ago about a year apart. It would have been my final thought in the whole world to start fostering doxies.Ive had 3 litters so far .I cant imagine a more friendly kind of dog after owning them. When Jill had her first litter I wasn't home . She shocked me a little bit by the speed at which she had the pupss. When we got home we found more pups behind the toilet and one wasnt breathing at all. I am not sure what happened but when we got back one of the pups was veiled behind the toilet and wasnt breathing

Jill was shaking with the situation of her dachshund puppies and was really worried. We put her down on the ground and place the puppy next to her so it could try and suckl. . After an hour or so she took to the pup and let it lay next to her, stripped it and let it feed . We were fairly sure that there were no more puppies hidden from the rest of the litter.

2 hours later it was bed time and we moved upstairs. The new baby dachsund and her mummy Jill were in our room for the night in order that nothing strange happened between them in the middle of the night. Finally when they were both happy my husband turned off the light so the 4 of us could turn in for the night. As he was hitting the switch he heard a puppy whimper .

He opened up the door and pursued the noise to the bed room across the hall. . What he discovered was another puppy lying in the bed with my other dog Jade. Jade was cleaning the poor little fellow . Jade is an 88 lb sheep dog so to say my husband was gobsmacked would be something of an understatement.

Jade had to have an operation when younger so was never able to have a dachshund . Qqueerly however she has managed every time to produce milk when Jill has pups . Jade thinks Jills pups are hers too. Every litter she has had has fed off jade . They lay with her all the time. Jill couldnt concern at all as she knows the puppys are in extremely good hands with Jade. They all sleep in one big bed together Jade Jill and Skippy and they are thrilled to bits with themselves .

The miniature dachshund has a lot of baby sitters. . They leap all over Jade . She just lays there wagging her tail or fiddles with them. It's funny seeing her leap at them and they leap right back .She has never harm one even by mistake big as she is .
